TORONTO -- Veteran forward Jamal Mayers announced his retirement from the National Hockey League on Friday, ending a career that spanned 14 seasons. The 39-year-old Toronto native played for five different NHL teams and had 90 goals, 119 assists and 1,200 penalty minutes in 915 career regular-season games. "It really has been an amazing experience to have had the chance to play 14 seasons in the NHL and finish it all off last season as a part of the Chicago Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup," Mayers said in a release issued by the NHL Players Association.
